How it works
Simple for customers. Fair for interpreters.
Here’s how a request becomes a confirmed booking — and how interpreters apply, get approved and take on work.
How it works
Five simple steps, from request to interpreter
- 01
Tell us what you need
Service, languages, city, date and time, expected duration, and whether you need someone on-site or online.
- 02
We find your interpreter
Tongue checks availability and matches you with a vetted interpreter who has the right language and experience.
- 03
Review your quote
You see the price, duration, transport and cancellation terms before you confirm anything.
- 04
Confirm and pay securely
Confirm your booking and pay by card. You receive your interpreter’s details and a reminder before the day.
- 05
Meet your interpreter
Your interpreter joins you on-site or online. Afterwards, tell us how it went — or book again in a few minutes.
Before you pay
Everything is in your quote
Nothing is booked or charged until you have seen and approved these details.
Everything is in your quote
- Service and type of appointment
- Date, time and expected duration
- Location, or online
- Price, including transport and extra-time rules
- Cancellation and change terms

How interpreters work with Tongue
- 01
Apply online
Create your profile with your languages, expertise, city, availability, experience and qualifications.
- 02
Get reviewed
Tongue reviews every application, followed by an interview or language test. Approval is never automatic.
- 03
Go online
Once approved, switch to Online whenever you’re available. Online means open to work — not guaranteed jobs.
- 04
Accept suitable jobs
See the jobs that match your languages, expertise and area, and accept the ones that fit your schedule.
- 05
Interpret and get paid
Mark the job complete when you finish. Your fee is recorded on every booking and paid through Tongue.
Which languages and cities do you cover?
Our most requested languages are English, Arabic, Russian and Chinese, interpreted to and from Turkish. On-site support is available in Istanbul and Ankara, and in other cities on request; online interpreting works from anywhere. We confirm coverage for every request based on your language pair, location, date and interpreter availability.
How far ahead should I book?
We recommend at least five working days before your appointment so we can confirm the right interpreter. Shorter notice is often possible — send your request and we’ll let you know quickly.
What if my plans change?
Tell us as soon as you know. We’ll re-check availability for the new date and confirm any change before anything is rebooked. Changes and cancellations follow the terms shown in your quote.
Do you offer online interpreting?
Yes. For calls, video consultations and remote meetings, your interpreter can join online. Choose “Online” when you send your request.
Can I choose my interpreter?
Tongue matches you with a suitable vetted interpreter based on your language pair, the type of appointment and availability. If you have worked with one of our interpreters before, mention it in your request and we’ll try to arrange it.
How are interpreters vetted?
Every interpreter applies through Tongue, has their languages and experience reviewed, and passes an interview or language test before they can accept any work.
How do I become a Tongue interpreter?
Apply online with your languages, expertise and experience. We review every application and contact suitable candidates for an interview or test.
