Booking
Which languages and cities do you cover?
Our most requested languages are English, Arabic, Russian and Chinese, interpreted to and from Turkish. On-site support is available in Istanbul and Ankara, and in other cities on request; online interpreting works from anywhere. We confirm coverage for every request based on your language pair, location, date and interpreter availability.
How far ahead should I book?
We recommend at least five working days before your appointment so we can confirm the right interpreter. Shorter notice is often possible — send your request and we’ll let you know quickly.
What if my plans change?
Tell us as soon as you know. We’ll re-check availability for the new date and confirm any change before anything is rebooked. Changes and cancellations follow the terms shown in your quote.
Do you offer online interpreting?
Yes. For calls, video consultations and remote meetings, your interpreter can join online. Choose “Online” when you send your request.
Can I choose my interpreter?
Tongue matches you with a suitable vetted interpreter based on your language pair, the type of appointment and availability. If you have worked with one of our interpreters before, mention it in your request and we’ll try to arrange it.
Prices & payment
How much does an interpreter cost?
Half-day interpreting starts from $140. The final price depends on the language pair, the type of appointment, the duration and the location, and it is always confirmed in your quote before you pay.
What does a half-day include?
Up to four hours of interpreting at one location. Longer assignments are quoted as full days or by the hour.
Is transport included?
Transport to and from the appointment is separate unless your quote says otherwise.
How do I pay?
Once you approve your quote, you pay securely by card through our payment provider. You receive a confirmation as soon as the payment goes through.
Interpreters
How are interpreters vetted?
Every interpreter applies through Tongue, has their languages and experience reviewed, and passes an interview or language test before they can accept any work.
How do I become a Tongue interpreter?
Apply online with your languages, expertise and experience. We review every application and contact suitable candidates for an interview or test.
Privacy & documents
How do you handle my personal information?
We only collect what we need to arrange your booking, and interpreters only see the details they need for the appointment. Our Privacy & KVKK notice explains everything in full.
Do you translate official documents?
We focus on spoken interpreting. If you also need a certified (sworn) translation of documents, mention it in your request and we’ll advise you.
