Visitors listening to a presentation at a busy industry event

A trade fair is one of the best places to meet Turkish buyers, suppliers and partners — and one of the busiest. A good interpreter at your stand turns quick hellos into real conversations. Here’s how to prepare.

1. Book early

Popular fairs fill the city, and experienced interpreters get booked first. We recommend sending your request at least five working days ahead, and earlier for large fairs. Include:

  • the fair’s name, dates and your stand’s hall and number;
  • the languages you need, for example English–Turkish;
  • your opening hours at the stand.

2. Choose half days or full days

A half day covers up to four hours; a full day suits most exhibitors who are at the stand from opening to closing. For fairs over several days, ask for one quote for the whole event — we can keep the same interpreter with you every day.

3. Brief your interpreter before the fair

The more your interpreter knows, the better they represent you. Send in advance:

  • your product sheets, catalogue or website;
  • a short glossary of technical terms and product names;
  • who you want to meet — distributors, buyers, end customers;
  • what you can and can’t discuss, such as prices or delivery times.

4. At the stand

  • Agree on roles. Decide who greets visitors and how you’ll signal that you want to step in.
  • Plan breaks. Interpreting is intense work. Agree on breaks in advance so the stand is never left without support at peak times.
  • Keep cards and notes together. Ask your interpreter to note each visitor’s main interest on the back of their business card.

5. After the fair

The follow-up is where deals are made. Book an interpreter for your follow-up calls and visits — online interpreting works well for calls with the contacts you met.

Checklist: fair name and dates, hall and stand number, languages, opening hours, product materials, glossary, target visitors, break plan, follow-up calls.
